Volunteer Walk Leader

Do you enjoy being in the outdoors, keeping active and helping others do the same?

Walking has many benefits to health and wellbeing, it’s free and one of the easiest ways to get more active and support a healthier lifestyle, as well as opportunity to chat and make new friends. Our Volunteer Walk Leaders are an integral part of St Helens Wellbeing Service and lead on various walks which are delivered across the brough.

The Walk Leader volunteer will help with:

  • Be committed to lead on new and established health walks across St Helens
  • Complete required paperwork i.e., registration forms, registers
  • Encourage participants to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle, promoting the wider service
  • Report to Walks Co-ordinator and Walks Lead. Ensure walks are friendly, welcoming, and safe

What skills and qualities do I need to be a Walk Leader?

  • A passion for physical activity, and desire to help others adopt an active lifestyle
  • Positive and outgoing whilst being able to have fun and adapt
  • Ability to offer empathy and support when working with vulnerable adults
  • Effective communicator including good listening skills
  • To undertake Walk Leader Training when onboard

Getting Active

Me and my girls have really enjoyed the class after school, it is fun for all the family to get involved in. We've learnt a lot about healthy eating and things we shouldn't be eating. It's fun and free! Really enjoyed it.
