Do you enjoy helping others and being physically active?
St Helens Wellbeing Service has an exciting opportunity for a Physical Activity Mentor (PAM) Volunteer. PAMS promote physical activity at the classes and encourage participants to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle. They provide support to community exercise classes delivered through the St Helens borough.
We expect the PAMS volunteer to help with:
- Help with setting up.
- Welcoming new members to the exercise session and reassure them.
- Act as an ‘Exercise Buddy’ during the class.
- Support the fitness instructor with monitoring procedures and class duties.
- Clearing away after the session has ended.
- Communicate with staff about any issues brought to them during sessions.
- Completing and renewing training as and when needed.
We are looking for the following skills and qualities from a Physical Activity Mentor (PAM) Volunteer:
- A passion for physical activity, and desire to help others adopt an active lifestyle.
- Positive and outgoing – able to have fun.
- Ability to offer empathy and support when working with vulnerable adults.
- Effective communicator.
