Physical Activity Mentor (PAM)

Do you enjoy helping others and being physically active?

St Helens Wellbeing Service has an exciting opportunity for a Physical Activity Mentor (PAM) Volunteer. PAMS promote physical activity at the classes and encourage participants to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle. They provide support to community exercise classes delivered through the St Helens borough.

The PAMS volunteer will help with:

  • Help with setting up.
  • Welcoming new members to the exercise session and reassure them.
  • Act as an ‘Exercise Buddy’ during the class.
  • Support the fitness instructor with monitoring procedures and class duties.
  • Clearing away after the session has ended.

What skills and qualities do I need to be PAM?

  • A passion for physical activity, and desire to help others adopt an active lifestyle
  • Positive and outgoing – able to have fun
  • Ability to offer empathy and support when working with vulnerable adults
  • Effective communicator

Love doing the workout, making new friends, you’re having fun and working out without knowing it. Learning new skills.

Getting Active

Me and my girls have really enjoyed the class after school, it is fun for all the family to get involved in. We've learnt a lot about healthy eating and things we shouldn't be eating. It's fun and free! Really enjoyed it.
