We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference at our Men’s Wellbeing sessions. They are (FREE) and aimed for men to help boost wellbeing and feel good! They are a fun, engaging and are a sociable place to meet others. Whether it’s through light exercise, games, sport or simply a brew and a chat, all levels are welcome.
We expect a Men’s Wellbeing Project Volunteer to support:
- Setting up before and clearing away after the session.
- Creating a friendly, safe space for participants through peer-led approach.
- Meet and greet participants and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Making a good brew for attendees.
- Supporting wellbeing activities, facilitating conversations and one to one wellbeing chats.
- Complete register and return to office.
- Support walking football sessions (where applicable), alternating as a referee.
- Giving time to listen to attendees and signpost them to other service which may be helpful.
- Maintenance of the plot through, weeding, planting seeds and watering plants (Allotment only).
- Communicate with staff about any issues brought to them during sessions.
What skills and qualities are we are looking for in a Mens Wellbeing Project Volunteer:
- An interest in wellbeing and helping others with a calm and understanding manner.
- Ability to offer empathy and support when working with vulnerable adults.
- Good communication, able to listen, always be respectful and professional.
- Completion of the CHCP Volunteer Training prior to post and complete annual refresher training.
- To attend courses deemed relevant by St Helens Service to help you within your volunteer role, for example, Making Every Contact Count, Mental Health, Suicide Awareness and Stress and Anxiety. Mental Health First Aid and Emergency First Aid at Work (optional).
- An interest in gardening/allotments would be beneficial but not essential (Allotment only)
We hope volunteers will stay in the volunteer role for at least 12 months to help volunteers, the organisation and the people we support, get most of the experience. Please note, you can leave the volunteer role and welcome as much notice as possible.
