Our Infant Feeding Team provides a full range of education and support for professionals across St Helens. We deliver evidence-based information on all aspects of infant feeding, underpinned by the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative standards.

We Offer

- Antenatal Support
All families are contacted during pregnancy and invited to attend an antenatal infant feeding class.
- Postnatal Ward Support
Our staff attend Whiston Hospital to provide feeding support to families on the postnatal ward.
- Infant Feeding Support
We offer tailored support on positioning, attachment, expressing, bottle feeding and feeding assessments. More complex cases are supported with guidance from our IBCLC Lactation Consultant.
- Family Friendly Pledge
Working with early years, community settings and local venues to create welcoming spaces for parents and families.
- Support Groups
Infant feeding support groups are held across St Helens, providing a safe and friendly space for families to connect and receive support.
- Training for Professionals
We deliver Baby Friendly Initiative training alongside bespoke training packages for staff, partners and wider teams.
- Health Education Sessions
Participation in local health education days and sessions to raise awareness of infant feeding.
- Introducing Solid Foods
Families are invited from 4 months to attend information sessions, supporting them in readiness for introducing solid foods at around 6 months
