Healthy Weight & Specialist Weight Management

Healthy Weight and Specialist Weight Management support with achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, being active and cooking skills.

Start Well

  • Tier 3 support for children and young people, age 2 – 16yrs who are on or above the 98th centile. Fun and engaging sessions offering nutritional information, exercise and games. The sessions focus on healthy choices and cover topics including portion sizes. Practical session include cooking skills and physical activity. Small changes add up to big health benefits! Virtual group or one-to-one sessions with interactive smartboard. Also available in community or school settings.
  • Healthier Families  – Support for families identified through the NCMP (National Child Measurement Programme) and EHAT – Lead Professionals for Weight Management  

Live Well & Age Well

  • Tier 2 programme for over 18’s who live, work or have a St Helens GP and a BMI of 30-39.9 (30 - 34.9 for people with a long term condition and 27.5 – 39.9 for people from ethnic minority backgrounds). The service is similar to Tier 3 but service-users also receive a portion/calorie recommendation and a 12 week funded gym membership.
  • Tier 3 for those who 18 +, registered with a St Helens GP and have a BMI of 40+, 35+ with one or more comorbidities or pregnant at the time of booking, 30+ with diabetes. The pathway helps people achieve a healthy weight through lifestyle change, habit forming, education and physical activity with an 8-week food education programme comprising of portion control, behaviour change and cooking methods. Minimum engagement is 12 months.

Getting Active
